28th – 29th Website Updates

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Today I have gotten up the beat version of the website. Which is basically a secret location where I will build the website so no one can see it except me. Unless you figure out the URL. Anyways I have finished the includes, and I have started adding content to the layout.

I have got the index, history, forum history, website history, and history intro pages up. I have also obviously started the blog again. I have also added this category for “updates”. Over the next day or two I will be aiming to complete all the “PokeProject” general pages.

So then I can start getting main content up. I plan on working at a steady and on-going rate and I will keep posting updates here daily. I am also thinking about the Pokemon Platinum Blog I started. Not sure weather to continue or now.

Anyways. I will keep adding updates daily.

Return of Michael Myers

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Well, not quite.  Sorry for the long, long await for an update.  Yes….  I am a rapper.  Now in all seriousness.  PokeProject Blog was neglected on purpose.  After all this time I am ready to finally make an update and let everyone know what is going on.  Well basically I was busy for a period of time.  Well a couple of months.  Now I am not so busy, I have started to work on the final PokeProject.

The old layout as been scrapped and I have now bought a new one.  Why, you ask.  The old one was dull, lifeless, and was definitely not a looking layout.  Now we have a bright, lively, and themed designed.  Obviously I paid a designer, however this time I could not resist as the designer was awesome.  Now what I will be doing is.  I will be working on getting the new website up.  I will be getting all vital pages added, and all content I can personally do myself.

Later on I will have a blog, and forum skin that will match the theme and it will integrate with the websites layout.  Until then, I will be keeping the defaults that are already installed.  You may ask why I am doing the website before the forums, the answer is: Websites with great content pull the viewers to the forums.  It makes them want to join.

So I thought it would be wise to do so.  Also it is important that I myself add all the Inferno and Hydro work to a website do people can see what we have, and what we need.  I may develop an area where members can log in and actually add, edit, and delete content in the Inferno and Hydro section.  We will have to wait and see.

Also I have been thinking recently.  I will shortly be asking three members of the forums.  If they would like to join the website even more.  What I mean about this.  I myself, and these three members together will run PokeProject.  These three members have contributed the most, and have stuck around the most.  I feel they will continue to do so, so shortly they will be invited.

I have a beta development website up and running now.  I will develop there secretly and then when I am ready I will move it to the proper location and announce it.  However until then I will not be showing it to anyone.  Unless you find it yourself.

Lastly.  I will be making a new category called “updates”.  Rather then having a normal web-page I will use the “updates” category of this blog for the updates of the whole network.

Sorry! Been Lazy!

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I haven’t posted a article for a while on here.  I apologize.  However I have since the last post here finally done the forums.  We have moved all members, posts, everything over to our own server now.  We are on vBulletin as well.  Finally paid for vBulletin and we have used vBulletin software instead of phpBB.

I will be working hard now.  Also the demo will have to be moved back.  I haven’t really been able to do anything.  However I will have to work loads and loads to get it going.  I need to also make some more changes to the forums.  I need to get various things finished before I do some serious updates.  However from now I promise to not be as lazy.

It’s A Money Thing

Monday, February 18th, 2008

So, now I have most of my plans in final stages. It’s money that is stopping further completion, however this is not a problem. I haven’t been able to update or do much as I have been earning money online. I have made $110.00 USD so far. So that’s good.

I need to get $85.00 for the vBulletin licence, $80 for the backup, and $50.00 for various little things. However with in sixty days of having vBulletin, I have to pay another $85.00 if I wish to make the licence a owned licence. So that in total is $300.00 USD.

I am one third of the way there already. Hopefully I will have achieved this all by, March. So I will be busy earning money, and I need it to fit in with making the website and blog. I also need to make some progress on Inferno and Hydro.

Plan Changes

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Okay, I have a couple of various updates and ideas to share.  I have once again started to think about vBulletin over phpBB 3.  I love phpBB 3, and I have fallen in love with the new style and features.  However we will probably be a lot better on vBulletin.

Members who register and be active on forums, always like vBulletin.  You will probably never hear anyone say “vBulletin is rubbish” or anything like that.  I will have to decide quickly.  I will keep you updated on that first of all.

Now secondly, as for the website.  I have been changing plans, and planning the final touches.  I have am pretty much sure, we will be set with in three days time.  From there I will be able to add more and more content.  The layout should also be finally done, with all features. :)

I am getting more categories up on the blog also.  That means I will have more to blog about, and more for everyone to read.  I will post updates on my plans, and I go along.  I want fast action to proceed the next couple of weeks.

Network Update

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

So I haven’t physically added anything to the website or blog, however the tester phpBB 3 forums have.  I have been adding the forums, categories etc.  However I have recently found out that I have to do it all again when we move.  So I have stopped progress there for now.

However I have been making plans regarding the forums, rather then moving, then continuing.  I now wish to make the forums go boom.  By this I mean, I will act as if the forums are brand new.  Targeted traffic, and members will be registering hopefully.

What I am going to do is, use all my web-mastering plans I have ever written for forums.  Then use them on PokeProject.  Rather then waiting and using them on future forums, I am just going to use them on PokeProject.  I wish to get a lot of activity going on the forums, so when it comes to finishing the website and updating the blog and project.  I will happlily know the forums are active.

I have also started to re-think the plans through on the website.  I think I can do a lot better then I have already planned.  This is not a problem for anyone but me however, as I never like to spill all plans into detail.  I am going to start progress with the website from tomorrow by the way.

Also the forum move will be pushed back, until around March.  Around the same time as the Inferno and Hydro demo version release.  Another announcement would be, I have started playing Diamond again.  I before had a free hosted blog about my legit Journey.  I plan restarting that, but on this blog.  Gives something a little extra for everyone to read. :)

Happy Birthday PokeProject

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Well today, 3rd February 2008.  Is a special day, as PokeProject is now two years old.  Yes that’s right, two years ago PokeProject forums was created.  We will be moving from these forums this year, however there is no upset.  All posts, members, threads everything will be moved.

So next year, PokeProjects birthday will definitely be on 3rd February per usual. :)   I haven’t prepared anything really.  However I will tell the story of PokeProject.  It all started because of .  Well I was young, was popular and red and blue we’re the best games ever.

After a short period of playing games, I started making my own characters and I started planning my own towns, events, everything.  After gold and silver, a while after actually.  I started to only play the games occasionally as I moved twice in a period of time.  Anyways whilst I was browsing through a catalogue I saw a game released.

Actually this was a set of games Ruby, and Sapphire.  Obviously I was not a Internet geek then.  So I lost track of the release.  As soon as I saw the game however, I went down to the store and bought it.

I loved it, so a couple of months after I discover that there is a GBA cheat cartridge.  This is when I start coming on the Internet for cheat coded.  Guess what, I discovered Jirachi, and Deoxys.  None of my friends had them, they thought I created them.  They never had Internet access etc.

Anyways one day I discover forums, as I have always been against chat rooms I never have chatted to people before.  One day I discovered anyone can make there own forums, so I did.  I made them, and left them.  Didn’t have a clue.

Then I decided that I would bring my younger plans of being a game maker and merged it with a forum.  I made the forum, and guess what I left it and played crater. :)   I soon got bored and started to work on the forum eleven days after the creation.

This is when we got our first member STEELIX, and others registered shortly after.  Vipershark, MewMaster, Mew2Masta, Nove, Houndoomed, Stanny, and Moonchild.  Then after that overs come as they do.  Anyways these first members are the ones who seem to still be around here today. :)

With STEELIX being the first staff member with me, we agreed that we will continue with the forums and we started by making sprites.  By we I mean all the members, I am actually rubbish at scratch spriting.  (I am mapper :) ) Since then I have become more interested in web-mastering.  I am less noobish now.

So now PokeProject is going to be my key project altogether for my Internet hobby.  I plan on developing the project as much as I possibly can.  I just want to say thanks to EVERYONE who as ever helped.  Remember this is our community, not just mine. :)

Happy 2nd Birthday PokeProject :)

Moving Forums May Have Problems

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Well I have been focusing on getting information on moving forums over.  However as we are currently hosted on a multi forum providing script backups are not like normal phpBB forums.  I have not actually found an successful move yet on ForumUp.  Anyways I have been told be the friendly members of phpBB community.

That if I get the backup on my computer, there experienced advice will most probably be able to make the transfer successful.  It may seem good news, but ForumUp don’t even guarantee a download will even work.  I am just going to have to just go for it, and see whats happens.

If we are unsuccessful, I will simply have to start the forums over from scratch.  This is not to much of a problem.  All information we need can will be added to the website.  Anyways I am hoping all forums, posts, and members are transferred successfully.

PokeProjects Web Network

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Well, I thought I would let you guy and gals know what exactly PokeProject will made up of.  It will start off with the website, forums, and this blog.  The good thing about the network is that they all will have matching skins.  Which all have been specially designed for me and coded for me.

I have paid for them by the ways.  I had a designer create me a .PSD layout, then I found a coder and had the website coded.  However the coder thought that it was for a wordpress blog and ended up coding it for both.  Lucky I didn’t have to pay double, so that leaves some spare money. :)

Anyways the website layout now as had features planned by me, I am going to pay someone to design all images needed.  I will then add them, and then the layout will be completed.  Obviously the whole layout will be valid XHTML strict and valid CSS.  I have been using PHP for included, and PHP will be used for various other features.

The blog version needs a lot of editing.  The features don’t need to be added like the website.  It also as the menu loading style, I have decided I won’t this to be taken out of the blog layout.  This plus a few other changes, then the blog layout is ready to go.

The phpBB 3 forums layout as not even been started yet, however I am going to pay the website .PSD designer change the middle section of the layout to create a forum .PSD.  Then I will have a coder code it to be the same length as the website and blog layout.

This would then mean all three sections of PokeProject have a matching layout, and will look so damn good.  Anyways, whilst all this is happening I will be adding the websites content, and getting the forums transferred.  The blog is pretty much done, except the layout obviously.  I am thinking the websites content is going to take me like a year to make, I have just to many plans. :)
